Alexis was jealous. This feeling of hers was becoming more common as her days at duel academy went on, and it all had to do with one Jaden Yuki. She wasn't the one she was jealous of, mind you, but he was most certainly the source. When they first met, Alexis had developed an interest in him. It wasn't quite romantic, but the feeling was still there. And it only grew as they spent more time together.
However, by the time Alexis had realized that she was falling in love, several others had started to notice his charms as well. Her friends Jasmine and Mindy were two of them, but they knew to stay in their lane. The problem was with these new first years who hadn't learned their place yet. They recognized Jaden's talent despite his rank and all seemed to be secretly pining for him. Not that anyone other than Jaden didn't notice.
Alexis knew that something had to be done here. As the one called the Queen of Obelisk blue and one of the most beautiful girls in school, she was confident that she could win over most guys with ease. But Jaden was different. The guy seemed completely oblivious to romance. And while it was something Alexis found cute, it was also somewhat frustrating to see him ruin any romantic moment she'd set up by completely misinterpreting her intentions. Not to mention that she had to be more conservative in her efforts lest any of her rivals catch on and pounce on him themselves. She just wished there was a way to completely claim her crush without any fear of failure or retaliation.
At the moment, Alexis was outside looking at the stars and pondering about something she'd overheard. Earlier that day a girl, about 185cm had approached Jaden and asked him if he liked tall girls. It was very clear to Alexis that she was trying to ask him out in a roundabout way. Jaden surprised everyone by somehow being perceptive enough to realize she wanted to know her chances of getting a date, but not enough to realize it was with him.
The girl in question kept looking to her side because of nervousness, and by complete coincidence a certain Syrus Trusdale was in that direction. The end result was him confirming that he did like girls who were taller than him, raising her hopes up in the process, but then following up by saying "so don't worry, I'm sure Sy will say yes." As the entire room simultaneously facepalmed, the girl in question walked away in disbelief.
This was both good news and bad news for Alexis. It was good news because this confirmed that Jaden was into taller girls and she(169.5cm) just happened to be taller than him(165.7cm) by over 3cm. But it was also bad news because this meant that tall girl who asked him could return to ask him out later. Since she was taller than Alexis by more than 15 cm, she worried that Jaden might like her more. As she pondered this she spotted a shooting star in the sky and made a wish.
"I wish to be tall enough to make him mine." She didn't believe she would actually grow taller from this, but she hoped her current height would be enough for tomorrow. Little did she know that she'd actually get her wish.
