The warmth of her hands, their soft caresses, was not something he wanted to part from. Looking up at her, he asked "Could you just keep holding me? Like this?"
Vixen looked on curiously, patting his head with one hand as he rested in the other. "See, this isn't so bad, is it?"
The boy in her hands fumbled for words, unsure of what to say. Finally, he muttered, "No," all the while leaning into her hands.
"So then why won't you let us get close to you?" she continued, her fingers actively rubbing his body down. The boy began to relax in her palm, lying down, his eyes looking up towards the ceiling as he thought about the question.
"I'm not supposed to," he answered. "If I do, I'll lose control. One thing will lead to another..."
"No," the woman firmly responded. "You've seen the effort all your friends have made here for you, haven't you? Do you really think that they'd let something like that happen?"
The boy fumbled for an answer, thinking of the lessons his mentor had taught him. "It starts with one, then it leads to another incident, and another, and then..."
"If you were by yourself," Vixen interrupted, "maybe. But you're not by yourself. You have a team because you didn't want to be by yourself. You don't trust them?"
The Boy Wonder began to look up into the air again, thinking not of his mentor, but the last time that question was asked of him. It was after he had impersonated a criminal in order to lure out Slade, a ill fated scheme Slade had seem coming regardless, and left Robin dealing with issues of distrust for a good while.
"I do," he answered.
"Then let us help you out," Vixen continued, rubbing his head gently all the while. "And have some fun."
