(Just for simplicity, let's say that this is happening during the current run of the show.)
It was a boring Saturday in Bellwood, and Ben was dragging his feet through the streets of the town. There had been no alien attacks or interdimensional robot attacks, or anything since the previous Wednesday, and Ben was getting antsy. While the downtime was nice once in a while, it wore thin fast and left him craving something more exciting. So, to pass the time, Ben was messing with the dial on his watch to see if he could unlock a new alien, or, preferably, master control.
One hour of random dial turns and input later, a new icon flashed on the Omnitrix, and Ben, being the act first, ask questions later type of guy he is, slams his hand down on the watch. In a green flash, where Ben had once stood, there was what appeared to be nothing, as if he disappeared. If you looked closer, however, you would see that he was tiny, about the size of a person's pinkie finger.
Ben was panicking. His arms flailing as he berated himself for being such an idiot as to not look more closely at what the Omnitrix displayed before changing into it. Unfortunately for Ben, someone had seen his change, and was now looking down on him with a sinister smile.
