Rukia could already see it coming when Tatsuki’s socked toes wiggled in the open air. The girl’s tennis shoe was raised up to about knee-level, with her fingers she, rather roughly) plucked the poor girl from Orihime’s desk and dangled her over the opening of her shoe. Her head was turned from Orihime so she couldn’t see, but Rukia saw Tatsuki’s cold, emotionless expression.
The classroom was emptying so no one noticed anything, but Orihime realized what her friend was up to. Her hand reached for the wrist of the girl, “No! You’ll hurt Anty Tatsuki! Hide her in your hair or something!”
For once, I am glad Orihime is so weird. Rukia smirked.
---------------
Tatsuki’s disgusted expression revealed itself, a look that scared Rukia. The last thing she wanted was to put this damn bug on her head; it’d probably reproduce and next thing she knew, she’d have a hair full of ants. She’d do what needed to be done, kill the damn bug beneath her foot like it belongs. But Orihime had already grown attached to it, another bug. It wasn’t the first time the redhead befriended an insect, and it wouldn’t be the first time Tatsuki crushed it. It was for Orihime’s own good, having an insect for a pet was just unhealthy and could lead to an infestation. If she didn’t do anything there was no telling what would happen. She wasn’t too fond of stepping on a bug with her socks, but it was the best she could do given Orihime wanted her to carry the thing.
She put on a normal face when she turned to Orihime to respond, making it up as she went. “But bugs….love….feet….” She had to admit, it was pretty weak. There was no way someone, even Orihime, could ever buy that.
“Oh really? Why didn’t you say so!” The redhead smiled kindly at her friend. Both Tatsuki and Rukia looked at her with the same dumbfounded expression. Huh?! Orihime continued, “That explains so much! Like, why they’re always by my feet. I’ve been told I have cute feet; there was this guy an-“ Tatsuki covered her friend’s mouth with her hand, bring Rukia dangerously close to the cavernous maw. “Don’t say it!”
Orihime, ever like the ditz she was, stopped and continued to smile. “Alrighty, I won’t hold you guys back anymore. Have fun Anty! I’m sure Tatsuki will take great care of you until I show up!”
--------------
With nothing left in her way Tatsuki smiled as Rukia was brought to her shoe’s opening again. There were no words like what Orihime would do, She wordlessly released what she saw as a worthless bug. Tatsuki’s victorious expression was the last thing she saw in the light, the open space grew limited as she landed in the shoe with a squishy sound. Rukia looked up just in time to see the looming toes of Tatsuki overcome her.
-----------
Ever proud of yet another bug vanquished and Orihime stopped from doing something risky, Tatsuki stepped out of the classroom at long last, giving a firm stomp just as soon as Orhime was out of ear reach. She could feel the near microscopic bug under her foot, still alive, still struggling. Its stubbornness annoyed the tomboy, God, just die already like the others. She stomped her way out of the school, but still the bug refused to die.
“I think I’ll run home.” She laughed out loud; it felt silly to talk to “Anty” like that, but if the bug somehow understood her then it could at least fear for its last few moments alive. Taking a deep breath Tatsuki took off running for her house.
----------
Being underfoot was indescribably painful; the entire weight of a planetary object was focused solely on Rukia, intent on crushing her at that. The footsteps Tatsuki took were murder, enough that Rukia actually coughed out blood at the first step. Several bones cracked from the pressure, maybe even broke. Then came another step, more blood, more broken bones. At this rate Rukia wouldn’t even make it out of the school alive. But she was stubborn, more stubborn that Tatsuki gave her credit for. She wasn’t any Unohana, but she knew some decent healing spells. Every single ounce of Spiritual Pressure she had was focused on keeping her alive.
It took all her focus, and with Tatsuki’s constant pounding she couldn’t even do her decent healing. It was all Rukia could do to prevent herself from getting any more injuries. Her focusing on the spells helped block out a lot of the pain and smells, but when Tatsuki began to run things grew hectic. The chaos in the girl’s shoe was so horrid Rukia couldn’t even keep up with what was happening. One second she was beneath the arch, the next she was crashed into a toe. Tatsuki’s running was sending her everywhere! Though, in an odd way…it actually helped Rukia. Now Tatsuki’s entire weight was only on her about half the time. Any other time she was just smacked against her toes or shoe. It helped her stay alive; she could continue her method of healing and actually make progress.
Near about halfway Tatsuki’s foot began to sweat, thankfully her sock absorbed it. But after a few more minutes, the sock was moist. So when Rukia slammed into her foot she also got a disgusting taste of foot sweat. Regardless, she continued to focus on healing herself. Her Shinigami training left her able to at least sort-of focus in the harsh conditions. And slowly, her injuries managed to get healed; and by that time, Tatsuki arrived home. Rukia was so focused on staying alive she hardly noticed the torture and humiliation.
--------
Tatsuki panted with a faint smirk as she entered her home and grabbed a drink. Sipping at the cool water she removed her shoes and sat on a couch in her living room. Propping a foot on her knee, she looked for the bloody remains of the ant. But there was no blood, nothing she could see. Yet blended against the black fabric of her sock, the ant was there, still alive.
She plucked the bug from her sole and held it before her face in disgusted anger. “What the-“
DING-DONG
Someone rang Tatsuki’s doorbell, grunting a bit she continued to hold the bug as she answered. On the other side was Orihime, and she wasn’t alone…
