"Release!" he tried again, even if he knew it wasn't going to be effective if the first attempt failed.

"Release!"

"Release!" Naruto groaned, unable to believe the situation he was in. Not because he was trying to channel all of his chakra to a toe the size of a building, but because Hinata's personality change didn't make any sense to him at all. And even if he was the size of a speck, his fierce loyalty to someone he cared about overrode everything else, so Naruto kept trying to somehow free her from whoever was controlling her actions.

"Wh-what is that supposed to do?" Hinata tilted her head, half surprised and half annoyed that her new pet's first action wasn't trying to run away or complaining more or begging, but trying to save her from an inexistent genjutsu. It took her a moment for her to come to terms with the fact that her reaction wasn't what she expected, because she knew if she saw Naruto fighting for her like that before learning the shrinking jutsu and making her decision she would feel touched by his concern and get all flustered and nervous, but now she just felt irritated at his arrogance. 

"Stop that, pet" Hinata moved her toe slightly, flexing and extending it in a flicking motion, and shaking her head at the note of surprise she could still hear in Naruto's scream as her toe predictably overwhelmed him. It wasn't only the foolish idea that Naruto could do something against her at his current size what was irritating, but how the confidence she felt after learning and mastering such a powerful jutsu, the confidence to reclaim him for herself after so much time being ignored was being interpreted as being possessed by some evil force. It was insulting.

"I should punish you again for that. I'm not under any genjutsu, stupid pet" Hinata spat as Naruto got up slowly, feeling tired from his desperate efforts.

"Then tell me why you did this! I.. I know you don't want to shrink me again, you just said it" Naruto demanded, trying to gather as much courage as he could. It was a bluff of course, but he had nothing else, and his failed attempts to release Hinata from the genjutsu already told him another rasengan wouldn't work now. Naruto thought maybe he could have a chance using his full power, but right now he was depleted.

"I already told you, I wanted a foot pet. And there are other ways to punish you" Hinata looked down with a smile, calling his bluff and no longer feeling that angry. Of course this didn't make sense to him, it showed how reserved she was and how little he knew her as much as he cared. But now he was hers, and there would be plenty of time to learn.

"B-but you're not like this! You would never do this!" Naruto insisted, what else could he do? 

"Is that so?" Hinata locked her gaze on him, enjoying his stutter and enjoying being the one calling the shots for once. It was just a matter of settling on what she really wanted to do.
