“I-I’ll go with you!” Shirou stood up as well.

This time Sakura and Tohsaka gaped at him, “Huh?!”

Despite being blindfolded Shirou turned to his friends confidently, “We have no choice but to find him now. And when we do we can get him to get rid of that crest worm Sakura.”
Obviously it wouldn’t be that easy, but something about the way the young man said it almost made it seem like it would be.

“Are you stupid or something? Look at you! Your arm still hasn’t healed, and Sakura needs someone here with her an-“ Shirou didn’t even react. Tohsaka sighed, “I won’t talk you out of this will I?”

“That’s Senpai for you.” Sakura giggled, “Once he sets his mind to something there’s no stopping him.”

Shirou looked towards his giantess friend, “Sorry Sakura. I don’t want to leave you alone but we need to find Zouken as soon as possible.”

“It’s okay Senpai,” She nodded kindly, “Besides, I have Rider.

“That is true…” Tohsaka mumbled to herself, “Plus with your increased magical energy she’s probably even stronger now. I suppose you should be fine on your own.”

“At my size is anyone going to want to hurt me?” The gentle giantess joked.

“True…” Tohsaka walked over to Shirou and undid his blindfold. “Let’s go. We’ve already spent half the day here.”

The young man nodded but not before heading towards Sakura’s face. He gently knelt down beside her, “I promise you Sakura, we’ll save you.”

“Senpai…”

Shirou gave her a small goodbye kiss before standing back up. “We’ll be back soon!” Without waste he turned and ran out the door with Tohsaka.

Sakura watched them leave with a forced smile. Once they were out of sight her eyes grew notably sadder. All this trouble was because of her, and now because of her pesky size she couldn’t even do simple things like cook or clean anymore. She couldn’t even…be with Shirou anymore. Her face blushed as she remembered some of their…intimate nights. The few pleasures she had in this situation were growing fewer. At this point all she had was the time she spent with her Senpai, but he was going to be gone all day…with her sister. She shouldn’t have been jealous about that but she was. But it went beyond that. There was a part of Sakura…a part she never wanted to acknowledge, a part that just wished Tohsaka wasn’t in the picture at all. Then she wouldn’t have to worry. Shirou would be all hers.

The giantess shook her head again at the thought, but like before her eyes trailed to her hand. It really would be like crushing a bug…

----

Shirou and Tohsaka stopped at their destination: the Matou household. It loomed before them almost ominously, but it didn’t seem as if the building actually had any evil intent to it. It was more as if the ominous air was just the natural feeling of the building. Tohsaka bit her lip at the feeling, “I don’t sense any magical energies here. The Matou may have a weakened magus bloodline but it’s odd that there’s no defenses at all.”

“Is it empty?” Shirou queried. “He might know we’re looking for him and have hidden.”

“It’s possible.” The girl admitted, “But we don’t have any other leads.” Gently, she took a step forward, then another, no change seemed to occur. The steps slowly grew more frequent until both her and Shirou were inside. “I’ll check upstairs, can you check the bottom?”

“Yeah.” Shirou nodded. Tohsaka began to go to the upper floor as Shirou stayed and looked through the rooms of the ground floor. He found an exquisite dining hall, lavishly decorated and beautiful. But it seemed so…token, it looked almost like it was there for show. The only feeling in this entire building was the ominous, disquieting feeling that puts one on edge. It almost felt as if the house was just a façade for a different world entirely. Despite this clear feeling Shirou ventured further into the room. In the corner was a shadow that caught his eye. It almost seemed…alive. But the young man quickly realized the feeling of something alive wasn’t coming from the shadow…not the shadow was blocking a doorway. And something was in it.

“You came before I could invite you Emiya Shirou.” A haggard, old voice called from the doorway.

“Zouken!” Shirou clenched his teeth and, without thinking, ran into the darkness. Inside was a room lit a sickening green. It resembled a dungeon, with stone stairs leading down into a pit of darkness. Only it wasn’t darkness…it was something alive…Shirou felt the desire to retch as he realized: insects. The ground was littered with thousands upon thousands of insects, and in the middle of them stood the wrinked mass that was Matou Zouken.

The weak-looking old man looked to Shirou with soulless eyes, “I take it you are here about Sakura?”

“Take the crest worm out of her! It’s killing her, made her grow and…”

“Hmm?” Zouken raised an eyebrow, “Grow? I know nothing of such magic boy. Whatever it may be that caused that, it wasn’t my crest worm. Besides, even if it was; I couldn’t remove it if I wanted to.”

“What?!”

“Sakura has long-since outmatched me. She’s been feeding each night, last night she feasted on a servant and I could no longer control her. I cannot remove the crest worm because the moment she would see me she would kill me. And I cannot control her anymore to avoid that.”

Zouken’s words were straightforward but somehow cryptic, “Feast? Kill? What are you talking about Zouken?!”

The old man found Shirou amusing, his chuckles were echoing taunts in the chamber. “You know exactly what I mean boy.” Shirou grimaced. “The shadow that has been terrorizing the city at night and devouring people. Sakura's bizarre condition. We have long-since left the realm of magics I can handle. There is only one person who is capable of doing this.”

“Sakura.” Shirou finished. All the strength in his legs vanished.

“Indeed. Sakura is the Shadow. You can choose to leave her be and she will surely devour more and more each night. Or you can choose to continue down this road you have started. Either way I cannot do anything.” With his cryptic words echoing into the dark the bugs swarmed around Zouken and slowly, his body began to vanish into the swarm. In minutes there was no trace of his presence.

Shirou retched. He abandoned everything for Sakura, but now his choice is quite clearly Sakura, or the world. He rose to his feet, already aware of his choice. He exited the room and found Tohsaka looking for him.

“Shirou! Are you okay? You look pale.”

The young man nodded, “Yeah. That room just…gave me a bad vibe. But Zouken wasn’t in there.”

“Damn.” Tohsaka clicked her tongue, not aware of the deceit. “I guess we’ll just have to head back and try something else.”

“Yeah…” Shirou nodded.

The two headed home together. A lot more time seemed to have passed than either of them thought as it was already growing dark. By the time they finally arrived home Shirou began to prepare dinner. Sakura seemed to have fallen asleep from boredom at some point being unable to do much else besides lay around. After dinner everyone very quickly settled in.
