"Um...are you sure this is a good idea Natalia?" The wide eyes of a child stared up at a beautiful woman in a revealing white top and jeans. Her eyes looked back at him with strictness, "This is a part of your training. Unless you wish to back out I'm doing this." She reached up and gently played with a few silvery hairs. "Whether or not you back out is not my concern though."
Emiya Kiritsugu sat in the middle of an intricate magic circle inside of Natalia's workshop. It resembled the kind of place one would expect a mercenary to live which made sense. At a single motion from the woman he called his mentor the circle would activate. He was apprehensive knowing what was about to come, but if it was a part of his training then he had no choice. He'd already lost everything, all he had left was his dream and in order to achieve that he needed Natalia's training. He had to bite his lip but his eyes looked back to the woman with determination and a nod.
Natalia nodded in return, "I'll remind you. Once I do this it isn't over until I say so. Should you fail to reach my standards or die along the way I'll never undo the spell. Even knowing that you wish to proceed?"
"Get on with it." Kiritsugu impatiently retorted.
"Very well..." Wordlessly Natalia knelt down and laid her hand on the edge of the circle. Her lips opened to say something but it was too fast and in a language too foreign to make sense. Kiritsugu's eyes never left her the entire time. The chant was long, taking a full ten seconds before the circle basked the room in a white glow. Defiantly the boy stared into the blinding light, not letting his eyes shut. He could feel the spell working on his body, everything around him was changing. As determined as he was moments ago, even he couldn't hold back the small gulp that came when the light died down.
The already towering Natalia was now just inhumanely gigantic. Kiritsugu saw himself eye level with the tip of her boots. Craning his head back as far as he could he could only make out the fluttering edge of her shirt. She was too big and too close for him to even see anything else, if he wanted to actually look all the way up to his teacher's face he'd have to back up quite a bit. Not that it mattered anyway, beyond her knees Natalia's immense figure began to blur. She truly did shrink Kiritsugu down to the size of a bug like she told him.
With little change in her expression Natalia knelt her head over to see the speck before her feet. "Now, you are facing a magus whom you have no hope to survive against. Survive."
Before Kiritsugu had time to fully realize the situation he was now in the ground around him darkened in shadow. What was the sky was now replaced with the leather sole of his teacher's boot. There was no need to think about what she was doing, Kiritsugu took off running as soon as the ground around him changed. Natalia was merciless, she stomped as quickly as a normal person would a bug. There was no slowing down for the sake of her student. It was only by inches that her foot missed Kiritsugu, but already it was back up and tracing the air over him.
BOOM!
Another stomp came dangerously close, it was a quick, instinctive roll that saved Kiritsugu from death. But like before his teacher had her foot already in the air for the next one. "You have to do better than that bug boy! I've only stomped twice and can go on for hours. Use your physical ability and wit to evade and if that isn't sufficient resort to magic. This is life or death. Your enemy will show you no quarrel!" Natalia's foot began to lower again, this time more gradual but her foot was following her prey this time. Kiritsugu had no hope of escaping like he had been. There was only one option.
The child closed his eyes and thought the key phrase. His magical circuits stirred to life to activate his spell.
Time Alter...Double Accel
The world seemed to slow down to Emiya Kiritsugu. Only he retained normal movement. He ran as fast as his child legs could. Right over his head Natalia's boot was close enough he could touch it. In the corner of his eye Kiritsugu noticed the splattered remains of a bug. That would soon be him if he didn't hurry. His chest started to hurt but he kept running. He had his spell on for several seconds and its toll was already becoming apparent. But the end was right in sight. With a final dive the young man safely landed outside of the danger zone. His spell gave way right then and time reverted to normal. A puff of dust hit the child in the face from Natalia's stomp, but he avoided it.
However there was no time to relax. His Master already had her foot back in the air and Kiritsugu continued running. He only had enough in him for one more Double Accel. And even if he cast it it had no chance of lasting as long as his first one. But it had to do, before Natalia got any closer the boy focused his magic and gave one final burst. His body felt as if it was going to explode, everything got hazy, but the boom came from behind Kiritsugu. His head turned back to see another narrowly avoided stomp, a fatal mistake. Natalia quickly bent over and plucked the child from the ground with ease. He was now dangled before her harsh eyes helplessly.
"Now you're in the enemies clutches and you're out of magic. In other words, you're dead."
Kiritsugu winced, expecting his teacher's fingers to tighten until he popped, but instead her eyes eased slightly. "But that's to be expected on your first day. You did satisfactory for now."
"I bet you want a reward?" Natalia's tone changed and her eyes had a strange look to them. Kiritsugu didn't understand but he caught sight of her free hand gently tugging at her chest. The kid blushed when he saw quite literally two mountains right beneath him. He was brought closer to Natalia's face, her breath began to gently blow against his body. "I'm sure at this size I must look like some kind of deity. Even to you my body must look inviting. But not happening." Kiritsugu was pulled away and gently placed upon a table where a number of guns laid.
Natalia began to pace the room, "I'm sure you feel proud to survive your first session but I'd like to point out some things. It probably looked to you like you were covering a lot of ground but you only covered about two feet. I didn't even have to change my position. And you ran out of Prana by the fifth stomp. Enemies won't have the mercy I have. If I just gave one more stomp you'd have been crushed."
Kiritsugu gulped.
"You still have a lot to learn." Natalia pulled a chair and sat down near the table. "Magi are going to outclass you, and weapons aren't enough. You need to learn how to survive and outlast them. But we'll get there." There were a couple loud thumps that said she removed her boots. "All things considered you're doing well for a kid. But training's done for the day, no point in doing something when you have no prana. So in the mean time make yourself useful."
"Huh?" Kiritsugu jumped, "What do you mean?"
Natalia shrugged, but there was a clear mischief in her eyes "There's a few hours left in the day so I think you should..."
