"You're taking your time," Faith noted, still using her telepathy to speak with Blake while she stroked her gurgling belly. "You'd better not be trying to stall until Jade and the others come back."
"No, no!" Blake replied hastily. "It's just ... well, it's a lot to take in so suddenly. You see, I don't really see many mages, and I've only just met you today, and it's under some kinda weird circumstances, and you look really pretty, and your belly's so cool, and you're friends with my sister, and there's still so much I want to do besides be belly fat on a pretty mage girl." When he finished speaking, he gasped at just how candid he was willing to be and Faith chuckled warmly somewhere above him. Had she cast some sort of truth spell on him without him noticing, or was she just appealing and trustworthy enough for him to let her guard down?
"Well you have two options, Blake. Be my belly fat forever, or be my boyfriend and be my belly fat some of the time. I promise I'll love you as either one." While Faith spoke softly, a loud groan from her pudgy belly followed by a stifled burp punctuated her ultimatum.
Blake had to admit that the options Faith presented him with were indeed the only ones. Until he got his lost biomass back, the tiny mage was stuck as part of the chubby mage's belly. He didn't know a spell that could restore his biomass, whereas she did. But she would only cast it if he agreed to be her boyfriend. Any other answer and he would have to spend the rest of his life in her belly. He didn't want her to burn him up like Jade had started doing, nor did he want her using her magic to make everyone forget about him.
Besides, maybe Faith would be a wonderful girlfriend.
"Alright Faith, cast the spell that'll give me back my biomass and I'll be your boyfriend. But you must promise that you'll only keep me in your belly for a reasonable amount of time. Your belly's nice, but I don't want to basically live in it and only be allowed out for brief moments." Despite being just a bit of sentient belly fat, despite being resigned to entering a relationship with a girl he had known for less than a day, Blake was determined to ensure fair terms and conditions for this bargain. Perhaps if he had done so earlier with the spirits he summoned, he might not have been eaten by his sister, absorbed into her belly, and transferred to her friend's belly.
Faith let out a faint sigh upon hearing Blake's answer, making him wonder if her plan all along was just to keep him in her belly for as long as possible. "It'll be a shame when you have to come out. You do feel really good in there after all." She covered her mouth to suppress another burp before looking around to make sure nobody was watching. "Alright, let's do this!"
When Faith next spoke, Blake had no trouble recognising that the words coming out of her mouth were a magical incantation, but it was definitely not one that he knew. Part of him worried that she had tricked him and was casting a different spell entirely. Something that would make it easier for her to keep him in her belly forever.
Suddenly, Blake felt a strange substance attach itself to his body. It was soft and squishy, but also had a certain firmness to it, but not quite as much as his own body. Of course, there was only one thing it could possibly be: Faith's belly pudge. It felt very strange, like it was stuck to him rather than being part of him. He tried testing this intended replacement for his lost biomass by moving around within the confines of the pudgy girl's belly. The new stuff took noticeably more effort to move and Blake was sure it jiggled more than the rest of his body, though it was hard to tell without being able to see it.
"Ta-da!" Faith triumphantly patted her belly a few times, jiggling Blake even more each time. "What your sister carelessly burned away, I've now replaced with my own belly fat! Now you're even more of a part of me than before!"
"Hey, what the hell? This wasn't the deal! How am I supposed to get out of your belly like this?" Blake argued while kicking and squirming to the best of his ability. Faith couldn't help but giggle at how adorable her new boyfriend looked struggling in her belly now that she had given him some of her own belly fat. The sensation his struggles gave her was also even better than before.
"The deal was that I restore your biomass," Faith explained matter-of-factly, rubbing her belly where she felt Blake squirming, "and that's exactly what I'm doing. But you can't get out of my belly until the spell has finished." Blake settled down as he prepared to hear out his new girlfriend, but she didn't stop rubbing her belly and her belly didn't stop gurgling. "So far, all it's done is fuse some of my belly fat to you. It probably feels weird because ... how do I put this? Even though you're a bit of pudge on my belly, that bit of pudge is still your body so it's still kinda held together as its own thing separate from me. It's like my belly is made up of Faith belly fat and you're a little bit of Blake belly fat."
Blake began to speak up as he had difficulty understanding what Faith meant by that, but he couldn't think of a way to phrase his question, so he went silent once more and let the chubby mage continue.
"Over time, the spell's magic needs to figure out which bits of Faith belly fat need to be changed to Blake belly fat in order to restore your body properly. Then it will essentially convert what it needs to and you'll have a whole body made of living belly fat once more. Once that's done, then we can talk about you getting out of my belly."
"OK, so how long is it gonna take for the spell to do all that?" Blake asked impatiently.
"Hard to say for sure. This is actually the first time I've ever cast the spell." Unease crept into both Faith's telepathic voice and the tiny mage stuck in her belly. "But from what I read, it could be anywhere from one day to one year." Immediately, the pudgy girl felt Blake wriggling around again beneath her hand.
"A year? I can't spend an entire year in your belly!" Blake yelled.
"Blake, sweetie, please just calm down and let my magic do its thing." Faith tried to go for a reassuring tone, but judging by how much Blake continued squirming within her belly, it didn't seem to be working. "It was either this or you never get out of my belly. Although, actually ..."
"What do you mean, 'actually'?" Blake asked as Faith trailed off, though he wasn't sure if he wanted the answer to that question.
"There's a chance - a very small, teensy-weensy chance - that the spell doesn't work properly. If the magic gets mixed up on what it's supposed to do, it'll turn what's left of your body into ... well, Faith belly fat, meaning you'll no longer have any physical form of your own."
"And I'll just be a disembodied consciousness stuck in your belly forever," Blake finished grimly. "So I agree to be your boyfriend and I might still have to spend an eternity in your belly anyway?"
"Listen, Blake," Faith barked, her composure breaking in the face of Blake's constant complaints, "if it weren't for me, you'd be a disembodied consciousness stuck in Jade's belly right now! And you know whose fault that would be? Not mine, that's for sure! I didn't shrink you, I didn't eat you, and I didn't burn you up when you got turned into belly pudge! I'm the one trying to make things right here, so quit whining!"
Neither mage said a word for a while after Faith's outburst. While the pudgy girl needed a moment to calm down, Blake needed a moment to process what she had just said and reflect on his own behaviour. The only sound that came from either of them was Faith's belly churning as it digested her burger.
Eventually, Faith broke the silence between them, her voice much calmer than earlier. "I'm sorry, Blake. I get that this is all very weird and it'll take some getting used to. I know you probably thought I could fix everything in an instant and I'm sorry that it's gonna take longer than you expected. But as long as you're in my belly, I'll do what I can to make it as nice for you as possible."
"I'm sorry too, Faith," Blake replied. "You're right. None of this is your fault and I shouldn't get mad at you when you're just trying to fix this mess." He paused briefly as Faith's fingers stroked him. "I promise I'll trust you more from now on like a good boyfriend should." Blake then heard what sounded like a kiss, and a moment later Faith's fingers pressed gently into him, feeling slightly wetter than before. He started to blush when he put two and two together.
Soon, Faith spotted the rest of the crop top gang coming out of the gym. "Remember, they don't know I'm actually a mage and I want to keep it that way for now," she said as her final telepathic message to Blake before heading over to join the group. When they saw her approach, their eyes were drawn to the odd lump of fat on her belly and they immediately knew that it had to be Blake in there.
"Your eyes do not deceive you," Faith announced to the group, though mainly speaking to Jade. "Thanks to an arcane contingency your brother had in place, his soul is now bound to the Countess of Shadows and there he will stay until he regains what was lost." Blake peered up at the three girls staring at him. They regarded him with expressions he couldn't quite figure out, but he guessed that Emily and Hannah would take their cues from Jade.
How does Jade feel about her brother now being in Faith's belly instead of hers?
