HereIAmStanding
The familiar and shimmering site of Grace greeted her. The rays of lights it cast swirled around the ground like waves of gold. Ella lifted herself up, taking in the stairs of Enir-Illim. When she glanced over yonder, there was only the clouds and the sky, reminding her that she was in the air.
Ella looked up towards her goal and began heaving herself up the stairs, one foot slowly after the other.
The walls were constructed of a thick white granite riddled with carved patterns. They stood before her, tall enough to tower over even the demigods. She found that even when she craned her neck in any direction, she could not spot where they ended.
She pressed her ear against the cold stone, and heard nothing. Silence. It was all quiet up here, and even when she pulled herself back, the rustling wind in the air seemed to be stifling itself.
In the center, a falling curtain of shimmering gold and black mist blocked her path. One she crossed that veil, the fight would begin.
It was majestic. The very ground she stood upon had purpose. This was not an arena for man, or for Tarnished, but for Gods.
Ella knew what to expect. Leda and her allies had told her as much when they ambushed her. Ansbach had also mentioned that Miquella had taken Mohg’s body, but it made no different to her, for the Lord of Blood had been killed and by her own hand.
Still, the Tarnished couldn’t help but wonder what use ‘Miquella the Kind’ would have for Mohg’s corpse.
“Miquella’s hardly a fighter,” Ella assured herself. “He is a Demigod, true, but I have slain many a deity. I have been in combat since the moment I started this journey. I will emerge triumphant in this fight, for Grace is on my side.”
Her lightweight armor had never felt so heavy on her body.
