Jack Leaves Zoe
Winning Her Back Chapter 16

Jack is convinced that he doesn't want to live as Zoe's tiny slave and tells her to take him out figuring if he can make it back to Lydia, as she can still order more of the antidote to restore him.  "I want to leave." Jack tells Zoe.

"Fine." Zoe replies but I'm only taking down by the front door.  I won't be responsible for you dying by putting you outside.  You can do that on your own.  She picks Jack up and takes him downstairs.  She quietly places Jack by the front door and turns without a word leaving him on your own.  He can hear her sister and her friends talking in the next room as they watch TV and he knows he can't reveal himself to them as the situation would only likely be worse.  Next Jack looks up at the front door towering over him like a monolith and he knows there is no way he could ever open it.  He also knows that staying where he is now is risky because those girls could come in and spot him at any moment.

Not far from the door, Jack spots two backpacks on the floor and he gets an idea.  If he can stow away in one of these bags he could get carried out of the house and to freedom.  He can wait until he gets to another house and get a responsible parent to help him.  The closest backpack is pink and all zipped up.  He tries to work the zipper that he can reach but to no avail.  He just isn't strong enough.  The other backpack looks a bit more expensive and is powder blue.  Fortunately there is a side pocket that is open enough for him to squeeze in.    He doesn't know these girls so this but this seems to be his best and only plan.  He climbs in and there are a couple pens in there but nothing else.   He moves back as far from the opening as possible and waits.

It is about an hour and a half before these girls are leaving,  Jack listens to them talking and discovers one is walking home while the other is being driven by her mom.  Unfortunately he doesn't know which backpack he is hiding in.  However, it isn't much longer when he gets his answer and the girl carrying the backpack that he's in gets in a car and starts talking to her mom about her day.  As the ride drags on, Jack heart sinks as he suspects they are getting further and further away from where Lydia lives.   As they drive he listens and discovers the girl's name is Cali but not much else of use.

The car finally stops and he is carried into the house and dropped off while the girl that carried him in goes to wash her hands and get dinner with her mother.  Jack slowly moves to the opening in the pocket to look out and sees the backpack is sitting on a chair and there is no way for him to get to the floor without jumping.  He crawls back into the pocket hoping to find a better time to reveal himself to her mother or another responsible adult.

Jack waits while he's stomach grumbles as he is getting hungry and would like to look for food but know how dangerous that would be.    After a couple hours the girl, Cali, comes back and she approaches the chair that the backpack is on and Jack's heart skips a beat.  She lifts up the backpack to sit down and then she ...
