"A time, a place, and a person" Ginny muttered to herself while walking distracted towards her next class, holding the books in her arms.

Ginny had worked out the hard part, but was actually stuck on finding a suitable test subject. The only thing she was sure of is that she wanted to shrink a guy, a male student in particular. Why? To finally get over her shyness and fear of talking with boys, something that she didn't expect to happen during her time at Hogwarts.

Ginny wasn't sure if it was due to the influence of her loving but overprotective mother, or because her experience with boys during her childhood was based just around her older brothers, but it was affecting her. She had experienced something similar recently when Harry lived at the Burrow just before the start of her first year at Hogwarts, but with Harry it was different because she liked him. But with her new classmates she hardly knew she found second guessing herself too, and it was frustrating her.

It was while trying to work on her confidence that she started up journaling in a weird magical diary that appeared in her bag, a diary that answered to her questions like a friend and that pointed her to an interesting book about potions in the library. According to the magic diary she probably could find something to help her confidence issues. Another tip from the diary encouraged her to practice brewing in the second floor girls' bathroom, and despite the book not having any potions that directly helped with confidence, she started spending her time there, working on her brewing skills and befriending Myrtle.

The diary didn't give her any more details when she asked, but after checking on the library she noticed that some of the potions on the book seemed to be completely new inventions or just had different instructions, like the shrinking solution she managed to reproduce. In any case she was confident of the result, and couldn't wait to test it, but on who?

Ginny was so distracted she didn't see who was coming and ended up bumping into someone, letting a small shriek and falling to the floor from the surprise impact.

"Wha-? Oh sorry, didn't see you there. Are you hurt?" Ginny looked up at the older student that quickly picked up her books and offered her a hand to help her get up. It was a Hufflepuff student, tall and good looking. Ginny took his hand to get up but that uncomfortable feeling came back so she took her books and quickly walked away before the boy could finish apologizing again.

The next few days passed and she was still undecided about how to use the solution, of course she wasn't going to use it on her brothers or on Harry.. at least not yet. But she couldn't let go of the idea of that older boy student she bumped into back then.. It felt like destiny, and the diary seemed to agree with her. It didn't take her long to find out his name was Cedric Diggory, a popular and well liked third year student. Looking at him from a safe distance she confirmed he was attractive and seemed nice, did she like him? she didn't know, but it just made her more curious about him, and made her decide to test her shrinking solution on him.

She had her person, she only needed a time and a place. And to gather her courage in order to talk with him after doing what she planned.
