A new adventurer
Aetheria Chapter 2

You are a new adventurer, coming from a little village in the middle of nowhere to the capital city of Aetheria with nothing but a basic starting leather gear, an old but reliable short sword that had served you very well to deal with rats and other minor pests along the way and the little money and experience you got during those tasks. And your dreams of course, your dreams of fame, glory, fortune, of becoming someone worth remembering, of leaving a legacy in this beautiful world.

You didn't really have any plans on how to make your dreams come true however. All you knew was that your first step was leaving that tiny village where the best you could hope for was being a fisherman or a farmer and arrive to a place full of opportunities like Aetheria. Now that the first step was a success you realize it is time for some introspection, because it's all well and good to want to become someone worth remembering, but now you need to iron some details on what do you want to be remembered for. Do you want to become a warrior? a mage? a wealthy businessman? a virtuous hero? a leader of your own tribe? the leader of a big city or even a country? So many options and all of them sounded appealing, but even someone as naive and inexperienced as you knows deep down you can't do everything.

And while you think, you walk around and marvel yourself with the beauty of the city, how everything is so organized despite the amounts of people, how the merchants have on sale everything you think you could ever need and a ton of stuff you're pretty sure you won't ever need, how so many places and so many people of all kinds of races could be the true starting point for your journey to greatness.

A few places seem to captivate you, as if the hand of destiny wanted to guide you to them and kickstart your journey. There was a sign on one of the boards that specifically requested new adventurers for testing "all kinds of gear" which sounded like an easy way to leave behind your weak armor and rusty sword. Your keen eye also checked another sign under some pointless political drivel that apparently was from a witch seeking for young adventurers to initiate in the arcane arts in exchange for gold, something that you didn't have but perhaps if you could offer another kind of service..

Entering the inn to get some food and a room to stay in, you feel compelled to make your presence known in some way, maybe chatting up to that woman sitting by herself or just sticking by to know what that group of rowdy adventurers is making so much noise about. You are still kind of going on autopilot while figuring out who you want to be, but you still take pride of remaining aware of noticing the things happening around you and ever the optimist, considering them opportunities.
