It was another day of uni and work for you, a routine that you had already settled on but that left you without much free time during the weekdays. You couldn't complain because you liked what you were studying and from the experiences of others you knew you were lucky with your job, but in the end you still arrived at night with just a couple of hours of energy before feeling the need to sleep. At least today you didn't have anything from the uni to work on, so you could just relax and do a bit of mindless internet browsing.

Logging on to your social media site the algorithm threw you the typical hot news you already heard a bit from your coworkers and classmates, but also some gaming news that made you wish you had more money and as you kept scrolling, a note about the 11th anniversary of a series you cherished since you were still at high school.

"Holy shit, I'm getting old" you thought and kept checking to make sure that yes, it had been 11 years since you saw the RWBY trailer and the story still wasn't over. You kept checking the comments and nodding absentmindedly at the fellow fans recognizing the cruel pass of time as you remembered your experience with the show, you caught up the latest season just a year ago in a comfy session of binge watching, but back then? Back then you were crazy about it, spending time daily on forums, reading and writing fanfiction and even trying to get good at drawing for the sake of making a fanart piece that could be featured in the credits, an unsuccessful venture but one you still remembered fondly.

Watching other fans talk about what the show meant for them and how they discovered it when they were kids or teens was something you could easily relate to, and it lead to a predictable rabbithole of browsing in amazement to see people still were quite active making fanart and stories about the show. Clicking in one of those randomly you chuckled at the premise, a self insert into that world full of references to fables and folk tales where the protagonist became a Huntsmen just like the heroes.

"Ha, if only" you thought remembering you did try your own version of such a scenario back then, in a story that probably for the best was never seen in public. Still, getting back that sense of wonder for a second made you smile as you noticed it was already getting too late and you needed to get up early to work tomorrow. You went to sleep, still kinda wishing it happened but knowing it wouldn't, the life of a huntsman certainly was more exciting than your routine.
